RICHARD HITCH
JANUARY 20, 1911

On Saturday (Jan.14) morning at about five o'clock at his late residence at the northwest corner of the village park, occurred the death of Richard Hitch, one of the most aged residents of this community, following a long illness and an enfeebled condition for many years.
Richard Hitch was born in Norfolk county, England, March 3, 1820. On November 23, 1841, he was united in marriage with Mary Gibson. Three children were born to the union, two of whom survive--Henrietta, wife of S.S. Hitch, and Miss Lottie Hitch, both of Chatsworth. Mr. and Mrs. Hitch came to the United States in 1855, and to Chatsworth in 1867, locating on a farm about three quarters of a mile west of this village. In 1895 they left the farm and came to Chatsworth to reside. Mrs. Hitch preceded her husband in death on September 2, 1902, since which time Mr. Hitch had resided with his daughter, Miss Lottie, in the cottage home and everything was done for his comfort that could be done.
The funeral services were held at the Chatsworth Baptist church on Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, Rev. Oliver Reed officiating; interment at Chatsworth cemetery.
