"A Hitch Orchard" states, "Dempsey T. Bobo moved from Union, SC in the late (eighteen) fifties to old Jonesboro (now Cahlybeate), Miss. He was a school teacher and farmer and likewise had some medical education. Was a Mason of high standing. He served in the Quartermaster Dept. during the Civil War. In 1900 he married his second wife Maggie McElhavnon Kossuth, Miss. She died Feb. 12, 1930." Dempsey married Ann Elizabeth Hitch, daughter of William Winder Hitch and Nancy Hunter, on 15 Apr 1858 in Union Co., SC.1 (Ann Elizabeth Hitch was born on 14 Feb 1836 in Laurens Co., SC,2 3 5 died on 22 Dec 1895 in Tippah Co., MS 2 3 and was buried about 25 Dec 1895 in Union Cemetery, Tippah Co., MS.) Dempsey next married Maggie McElhavnon in 1900.2 (Maggie McElhavnon died on 12 Feb 1930 in MS.) |
