"A Hitch Orchard" states, "Dempsey T. Bobo moved from Union, SC in the late (eighteen) fifties to old Jonesboro (now Cahlybeate), Miss. He was a school teacher and farmer and likewise had some medical education. Was a Mason of high standing. He served in the Quartermaster Dept. during the Civil War. In 1900 he married his second wife Maggie McElhavnon Kossuth, Miss. She died Feb. 12, 1930."
