William Elgate
William Elgate had an early tract of land surveyed for him that he received patent within the bounds of modern-day Somerset County, MD. Called ELGATE, it was surveyed on Jun 3 1664 for 150a. The warrant for survey mentions it was from the transport of himself, his wife Hannah Elgate and sons William Elgate and John Elgate. He sold this tract to Thomas Owen on Feb 12 1672/73 (SoLR-SC:234) William married Hannah (?). (Hannah (?) was born about 1630.) |
