Leah Taylor was executrix of George Taylor's estate from the time of the initial inventory being taken on Sep 2 1797 until the final distribution was made on Jun 20 1801 in Worcester Co.
In the Federal Census of 1820, Leah Hitch is listed on page 133, Somerset County, Maryland in a household comprised of one male age 16-26 and one female age over 45. The household is near that of Moses Rencher, Jacob and John Morris (of John), John Pollitt Sr., and John Hitch.
In her will written May 11 1831 and proven in Worcester Co. on Oct 26 1831, Leah Hitch makes the following provisions: - To Peggy Turner, one bed/furniture and my wearing apparel - To Amelia Turner, one Bible - To Samuel Hitch all the rest of my household furniture and he be the executor (WoW-1822/33:489) Note - Peggy Turner is the mother of Amelia Turner and they are listed in the 1850 Census in Princess Anne District, Somerset Co. as Peggy, age 58 and Amelia, age 30. They are listed is a household next to Levin Pollitt who we know lived on Meadown Bridge Road just south of where the modern counties of Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester intersect, this also near to where Samuel Hitch was living but on the Worcester County side of that road. There is an unknown relationship to them with Leah but perhaps Peggy is a daughter from a previous marriage before Benjamin. Or they may be part of the Brown Family who also lives nearby as Margaret S. (Peggy) (1794-1875) and Amelia A. Turner (1819-1888) are buried in the old Brown farm cemetery on Meadow Bridge and McGrath Road.
Listed as over age 45 in the Federal Census of 1810.
Leah Hitch's will was written in May 1831 and probated in Worcester County in Oct 1831. (WoW-1822/33:489)
