Fruitland-William "Billy" M. Disharoon, 67, of Fruitland died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Born in Salisbury on Jan. 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Henry and Margie Disharoon. Billy enjoyed fishing, hunting, drag racing and most importantly spending time with his granddaughters. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30-plus years of service. He served in the U.S. Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Disharoon Jr., and a nephew, Jason Recker. Billy is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marilyn "Kathy" Disharoon of Salisbury; a son, William Disharoon Jr. of Fruitland; a daughter, Dawn Hershelman and her husband, Joshua, of Lewes. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Audrey and Olivia; a brother, Jesse Disharoon of Fruitland; two sisters, Janet M. Roush and her husband, Ron, of Florida and Linda Cooper and her husband, Donald, of Princess Anne; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
