James Dashiell wrote his will on Feb 22 1697 and it was proven on Aug 31 1697 in Somerset Co. with the following provisions: - To wife Ann, the plantation where she lives for her life or widowhood and all conveniences, cattle, corn and tobacco they make shall be disposed of to keep herself, her son Ro: and her servants in clothing but, if she marries another husband, she may have her dew and begon. - To son James, several tracts of land Desert, Meeches Right, Wolf Trap Neck containing in all 550a after he gives George Dashiell 3,000 lbs of tobacco - To son Thomas 150a, Becknam lying between Wlf Trap Neck and ye head of Tyaskin Creek - To son Robert 300a land called Long Hill after he gives George Dashiell 3,000 lbs of tobacco and one feather bed/furniture - To daughter Jane, one mare and her increase - Rest of movable estate including the negroes to divide equally among my children except tables, chairs, couches and ye cubbard should stay in the house - Appoint son James as executor.
