*Uncertain about this Joseph Dalby being son of Joseph born 1674. Circumstantial evidence suggests a decent likelihood however as this Joseph has brothers Benjamin and Upshur which could be named after his uncle and maternal grandmother's maiden name - more research needed but this connection has a rather high level of probability
Joseph Dalby (as Dolby) wrote his will Jan 28 1775 and it was proven in Northampton Co., VA on Feb 10 1778:
- To my two brothers, Benjamin and Upshur, all my clothes
- To John Bloxom 10 shillings
- To Peggy Dalby, daughter of John Dalby, 10 shillings
- To Geney Salts, 10 shillings
- To Peggy Wheeler (as Whealer), daughter of John Wheeler, 10 shillings
- To loving wife Jean, use of the whole estate during her life and then to Benjamin and Upshur Dalby
- Wife and uncle John Dalby executors
