Anthony Heavelo

  General Notes:

There are two deeds from Aug 5 1740 between Anthony's son William and his presumed sons Samuel and Anthony that layout some of the genealogy of the elder Anthony's land. In them, it states that the land tract was called Shrewsberry and orginally granted as a 500a patent to Anthony Heavelo by the Land Office of New York but the office was burned so he obtained a replacement patent from William Penn of Pennsylvania. Afterwards that patent was also burned when Heavelo's house burned and Catherine Heavelo obtained a warrant of resurvey from Penn and Thomas Greenwood, surveyor, executed the survey and found it contained 410a. Anthony Heavelo bequeathed the tract to his six sons with son Anthony getting 200a and the rest divided amongst sons John, William, Andrew, Daniel and James. This is the only record this compiler finds of the elder Anthony Heavelo's wife (Catherine) who presumablly obtained the resurvey after Anthony had died in early 1701. (SxLR-Roll 003:332)

Anthony Heavelo's (as Heaverly) will was written Nov 8 1700 and probated in Sussex Co., DE on May 31 1701 with the following provisions:
- To Anthony Jr. 200a of land backwards of the beaver dams
- To wife the other 300a of land until her decease when she is to leave it to my children
- To son Anthony, my chest and Dutch pot, pair of hand irons and a spit, a dish, two plates, 4 cows, six heifers
- To son John a cow and 2 year old heifer
- To son William, a cow and 2 year old heifer
- To Andrew, one cow
- To Daniel and James, a 2 year old heifer
- To wife use of a parcel of mares and horses that run in the marsh already owned by son Anthony
- Wife and son Anthony to be executors

Anthony married Catherine (?). (Catherine (?) was born about 1660.)
