John Heavelo is certainly a descendant of Anthony Heavelo (c1650-1701) of Sussex Co., DE. This compiler just needs to determine the exact lineage. He is likely a grandson of said Anthony Heavelo and we place him tentatively here as a son of William of Anthony knowing that he could be of another son of Anthony Heavelo. The placement here is based up circumstantial evidence when Anthony Heavelo of William died in 1749, one witness to his will was John Cord, then husband of Hannah Naws who would become the wife of John Heavelo a couple of years later. Was John Heavelo the brother of Anthony of William? More research might confirm/deny.

On May 20 1769, John and Hannah Heavelo sold land to James Thompson for £12 current money. It was bounded on the north by Lewes Creek, on the SE by the land of Jacob Wiltbank, the SW by Pagan Branch, NW by land of Peter & David Hall for 33 acres and 11 square perches which by deed of sale from Sargeant Lougthers? and Mary his wife was conveyed to Nathaniel Naws who died intestate leaving a son who died in infancy and so the land descended to his sister Hannah Heavelo. It also mentions a deed of sale from John Cord and Hannah his wife NOW WIFE OF JOHN HEAVELO to shipwright Stephen Green dated May 4 1748 that reserves one acre of the land for Green on the front of the branch of four perches wide to extend back to make up the full acre adjoining the burying ground. (SxLR-L11:024).

On Aug 4 1769, John Heavelo, cooper, sold land to Thomas Grove, yeoman, both of Sussex Co., DE. Thomas Grove had died intestate possessed of land on the south side of Prime Hook Creek and west side of Little Creek and left issue Thomas, Samuel and Susanna Grove. This land was 280a laid out for Samuel Grove who died instestate and the son Thomas Grove sold to John Heavelo for £420 current money. (SxLR-L11:039)
