Joseph served as a Sergeant, Company I, 357th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Worcester County, Maryland prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on December 18, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in construction and also as Single, with dependents. Joseph was "Killed In Action" in France during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Service # 33390058
