William Hastings had land surveyed for him in Sussex Co. on May 20 1794, tract "Hastings Lott" for 18a, 2.58 perches. It borders tracts "Collins Adventure" and "Watermelon" (SxCert-S18:267). This tract today is right on the MD/DE line and is between US 13 and the central part of Delmar, DE today (2017).
William Hastings will was probated in Sussex Co., DE on Sep 11 1818: - To son Elihu, all my lands whereof I now possess including parts of different tracts, and a tract in Worcester County, Maryland St. Martins called "Townsends Beginning", also negro boy Arthur, one young bay mare, feather bed/furniture, silver watch - To son Eli, a small detached piece of land on the east side of Mr. Isaac Hearn's plantation, also negro girl Heriet, one feather bed/furniture - To daughter Elizabeth Hastings, negro woman Phillis, - To son Levin, negro boy James - To daughter Eleanor Hastings, negro girl Donney - To son Winder, negro girl Lewosar - rest of estate to four youngest children heretofore named - son Elihu and brother Daniel to be executors Witnesses: Samuel Elliott, Melvin Hastings, Hekeziah Hastings (SxW-G:125)
