On April 2, 1842, for $80, Nelly, Nancy, Levin and his wife Sally, and Sarah Hitch and Betsy Nicholson (indicated as the widow of John Nicholson) sold to Moses Hastings, all of Somerset County, 21½ acres of land bordering "Hot Hill". Betsy Nicholson signed this record as Elizabeth Nichols. (SoLR-AH:108)

In the Federal Census of 1860, Elizabeth Hitch is listed in Salisbury, Somerset County, Maryland in the Levin H. Nicilas (Nicholson, Nicholas, Nichols) family (household 1348) as follows: - Levin H. Nicholson, age 41 - Elizabeth Nicholson, age 31 - Charles Nicholson, age 3 - Thomas Nicholson, age 2 - Eugene Nicholson, age 10 months - Elizabeth Hitch, age 67 - Sarah Hitch, age 63 All born in MD.

On June 8, 1861, Sarah Hitch and Elizabeth Nichols were paid $40 by Noah Hearn for 2 acres of land called "Hitch's Chance" on the west side of the county road leading from Ruark's Mill to Salisbury. (SoLR-LW7:133).

On February 2, 1869, Sarah Hitch and Elizabeth Nichols (Nicholson) sold land to Humphrey Humphreys for $89. The land adjoined Henrietta Byrd's land and the county road from Ruark's Mills to Salisbury consisting of 10½ acres. Witness: Handy Fooks. (WiLR-TFJR:448).
