On April 2, 1842, for $80, Nelly, Nancy, Levin and his wife Sally, and Sarah Hitch and Betsy Nicholson (indicated as the widow of John Nicholson) sold to Moses Hastings, all of Somerset County, 21 acres of land bordering "Hot Hill". Betsy Nicholson signed this record as Elizabeth Nichols. (SoLR-AH:108)

In the Federal Census of 1860, Elizabeth Hitch is listed in Salisbury, Somerset County, Maryland in the Levin H. Nicilas (Nicholson, Nicholas, Nichols) family (household 1348) as follows: - Levin H. Nicholson, age 41 - Elizabeth Nicholson, age 31 - Charles Nicholson, age 3 - Thomas Nicholson, age 2 - Eugene Nicholson, age 10 months - Elizabeth Hitch, age 67 - Sarah Hitch, age 63 All born in MD.

On June 8, 1861, Sarah Hitch and Elizabeth Nichols were paid $40 by Noah Hearn for 2 acres of land called "Hitch's Chance" on the west side of the county road leading from Ruark's Mill to Salisbury. (SoLR-LW7:133).

On February 2, 1869, Sarah Hitch and Elizabeth Nichols (Nicholson) sold land to Humphrey Humphreys for $89. The land adjoined Henrietta Byrd's land and the county road from Ruark's Mills to Salisbury consisting of 10 acres. Witness: Handy Fooks. (WiLR-TFJR:448).


Elizabeth married John Nicholson on 28 Aug 1811 in Somerset Co., MD. (John Nicholson died before 02 Apr 1842 in Somerset Co., MD.)
