Ovilla Bishop Anthony
Resident of the county for 49 years. Mrs. Brown was married September 10, 1856, to Samuel Croxin, a native of England, who came to this country in 1853. He was a farmer, and, being a man of energy and excellent judgment, was quite successful in his calling. He was summoned from earthly scenes February 19, 1905. He took a great interest in church work; was superintendent of the Sunday school for a great many years and attended all Sunday school conventions, being well known in church circles in Cedar, Johnson and Muscatine counties. Of this union four children were born. Mary A., now the wife of Warren Milick of Cedar county, Iowa; George, deceased; Charles C., of Goshen township, Muscatine county; and Frank, of Texas Ovilla married James Monroe Brown, son of Sovereign Hitch Brown and Sarah Morris, about 1852. (James Monroe Brown was born on 08 Jun 1823 in OH, died on 01 Apr 1855 in Muscatine Co., IA and was buried about 04 Apr 1855 in Timberlake Cemetery, Muscatine Co., IA.) Ovilla next married Samuel Croxen on 10 Sep 1856. (Samuel Croxen was born on 08 Jul 1830 in England, died on 19 Feb 1905 in Muscatine Co., IA and was buried about 22 Feb 1905 in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty, Muscatine Co., IA.) |
