Mrs. Elizabeth Carey Atkinson, 82, first Wicomico County woman Circuit Court crier, died Tuesday in the Salisbury Health Caret Center after a long illness. she lived in Fuitland. Born in Fruitland, she was a daughter of the late William T. Carey and Ida Smith Carey. Her husband, Samuel R. Atkinson, died in 1964. Mrs. Atkinson retired in 1987 (sic) as clerk of the People's Court. She was also a former postal clerk at the Fruitland Pos Office. She was a past president of the Fruitland Homemakers and also of the Auxiliary to the Fruitland Fire Company; was a member os the Wicomico Farm Bureau and a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church in Fuitlandk where she was a past president of the United Methodist Women. Surviving are two children, Samuel C. Atkinson, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Doris A. Tilghman, Palatka, Fla; seven grandchildren; and several nieves and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thurday at 2 p.m. in the Hill-Baker-Bounds Funeral Home. The Rev. Joseph C. Bostick will officiate. Interment will be in St. John's Church Cemetery.
