Mattie Marie Shores Brown
Fruitland'97Mattie Marie Shores Brown, 106, of Fruitland, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Coastal Hospice At The Lake. Born in Oriole, she was the daughter of the late William Wallace Shores and Lucy Virginia Bloodsworth Shores. In her earlier years, she worked as a clerk at a Princess Anne Pharmacy and later at Salisbury Office Supply. She was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and also attended the Community of Joy. For many years, she enjoyed doing needle- point, loving on her cats and watching and feeding her birds.

She is survived by a sister in law, Marie S. Shores of Fruitland; a niece, Sharon S. Downing of Fruitland; 3 nephews, Robert P. Simms and his wife, Sue of Salisbury, John W. Shores and his wife, Robin of Long Island, NY and Wayne F. Shores of Fruitland; great niece, Kim Shores of NY, NY; 2 great nephews, W. Paige Simms of Baltimore and Michael E. Simms and his wife, Melissa of Salisbury; 2 great great nieces, Kara Simms and Charlotte Simms; and 2 great great nephews, Adam M. Simms and Kelsey R. Simms. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Simeon B. Brown; a sister, Flossie Mae Simms; and 2 brothers, Charles W. Shores and William F. Shores. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 am at the St. John's United Methodist Church Cemetery in Fruitland with Rev. Martin Hutchison officiating.

Mattie married Simeon B. Brown, son of Marcellus L. Brown and Lottie F. Pryor. (Simeon B. Brown was born in 1907 in Worcester Co., MD,^{1 2} died in Apr 1983 in MD and was buried in Apr 1983 in St. John's Methodist Church Cemetery, Fruitland, Wicomico Co., MD.)
