William Lee Hitch went to Delta State University where he played football. He spent two years in the Army before finishing college and then received training in Naval Aviation. He flew with the Navy for twenty years before retiring in 1979. He taught high school math and did other things after retirement, including taking his first parachute jump on his 60th birthday.
William married.
