Mrs. Catherine Shiles died at her home at West Mill Creek Tuesday night at the advanced age of eighty-nine years. Mrs. Shiles had been in failing health for some time and her death was not unexpected. She came to her present home in 1866 and was well known throughout the county. She was well known by many of the Vandalia Railroad people, some of whom boarded with her during the time the railroad was being built. So far as known she had no living relatives.
