OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN)
The death of John Kaiser, 72, occurred Friday evening at 5:45 o'clock in his home, 106 East Hill Street. Mr. Kaiser, who had been in ill health for several years, suffered a stroke early Thursday morning and had been critically ill since then. Mr. Kaiser was born in Wabash and started in the grocery business early in life. He later became a commission merchant after which he operated a jewelry store. Ill health compelled him to retire from this business several years ago.
Mr. Kaiser was a past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge and a charter member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges. In later years he was interested in Boys Town, Omaha, Neb. Mr. Kaiser was born Feb. 9, 1873 to Joseph and Mary (Bickel) Kaiser. His marriage to Francis S. Shiles took place Sept. 14, 1902. Surviving are the widow, one brother, Isadore Kaiser, Wabash, and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Hayden, Peru, and Mrs. W.H. Schmid, South Bend. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Bernard's Catholic church of which the decedent was a member. #Burial will be in Falls cemetery. The body will be taken from the Hoover Funeral home to the family residence Saturday evening where friends may call.
