HITCH - At the county house at 8:40 o'clock last evening, Edward Hitch, age about 37 years.

Death was the result of burns suffered by the deceased on the night of Wednesday, January 22 last, when, in the course of an attack of epilepsy, a lamp was overturned and the burning oil inflicted injuries which proved fatal. Deceased lived alone at his home, about a mile and a half west of the city, on the Pete's Run gravel road. His wife died just one year ago yesterday, leaving her husband and one child, Earl, a boy of about 15 years, who is now doubly orphaned. Deceased was removed from his home to the county house, in order that he might have proper care, there being none of his relatives here at the time he was injured. A sister, living in Columbus, came in response to a telegram the day following the accident, but Mr Hitch refused to leave the county house and return home. His suffering throughout was agonizing, and death came as a merciful release to his tortured body. He leaves to his son, in addition to a house and a small plot of ground, a small sum of ready money.

The funeral will be at 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon, with interment at Shiloh Cemetery. The services will either be held at the residence or at Shiloh Church, this not having been decided last night.
