Dr. Walter Baker Jordan
Dr. Walter Baker Jordan ran a drug store on Sycamore St in Petersburg, Virginia named Jordan & Carr. He was a charter member of Powhatan Starke Lodge No. 124 in Peterburg, VA. During the war between the states, he served in the Petersburg Cavalry. After the war, he retired to his farm in Carrollton, "Springfield," where he had an extensive orchard. He passed away on Christmas Eve 1892 while out selecting a Christmas tree for the children. Walter married Pattie Burton Alston in 1871. (Pattie Burton Alston was born on 06 Jan 1853 in Halifax Co., NC, died on 20 Oct 1914 in Norfolk, Norfolk Co., VA and was buried about 23 Oct 1914 in St. Lukes Cemetery, Isle of Wight Co., VA.) |
