Mary Helen (Teenie) Gomeck

Mary Helen "Teenie" Hitch, 79, of Gower, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012. She was born February 22, 1933, the youngest of six children in St. Joseph, daughter of Millie and James Gomeck. Mary Helen was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church, where she attended grade school, was a member of the Altar Society, PTA and Legion of Mary. She graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in 1950. In 1951, she married Raleigh Hitch, also of St. Joseph. They became parents of four children, Jane Ann Buescher and husband, Keith of Brighton, Colo., Mary Rae Paxton of Oregon, Mo., Raleigh Joseph Hitch, Sheri Lyn Brendle and husband Joe of Gower. The family now includes 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son; three brothers, James, Michael and Joseph Gomeck; and a sister, Ann Gallas. Other survivors include a sister, Millie Weber. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. James Catholic Church, Father Joseph Totton, Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday, at Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mary married Raleigh Frederick Hitch, son of William Harold Hitch and Ferne Elizabeth Fredrickson, in 1951 in MO. (Raleigh Frederick Hitch was born on 24 Apr 1932 in Jefferson Co., MO ¹ and died on 30 Oct 1990 in Reno, NV ².)
