Dennis James Hitch II, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 20, 2023, in Parsonsburg, MD. Born on January 21, 1963, and raised in Laurel, Delaware, Dennis was known for his faith-filled, loving, and selfless nature.

Dennis is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years Sue Hitch; his daughters, Kelsea Mathis and her husband, Don, and Brooke Hitch; his cherished granddaughters, Addison and Raegan; his sister, Terri Evans and her husband, Wayne; his brother, Dirk Hitch and his wife, Rhonda; his father and mother-in-law, George and Martha Kahlert; his brothers-in-law, George Kahlert and his wife, Carol, and Bob Kahlert and his wife, Cathy. Dennis also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins all of whom were dear to his heart and played an important role in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents Dennis and Karen Hitch. Dennis had a long and successful career as a realtor with Long and Foster Real Estate for over 25 years. He was highly respected in the industry for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to his clients. His passion for helping others was evident in the countless families he assisted throughout his career.

Outside of his professional life, Dennis was a man of many interests and hobbies. He was an avid NASCAR fan, attending numerous races cheering on his favorite drivers. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting, a pastime he enjoyed with friends and family. Dennis also treasured his trips to Assateague, where he relished in the beauty of nature and the tranquility of the shoreline. Above all, Dennis was a family man who cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. His love for his family knew no bounds, as he was always there to support them in their endeavors and celebrate their accomplishments. Dennis and Sue had a story book marriage, they were best friends and when they met it was truly love at first sight. Dennis was a doting grandfather to Addison and Raegan, who brought immense joy to his life. He shared his love for NASCAR and the outdoors with his daughters, Kelsea and Brooke, creating memories that will last a lifetime.



Dennis was a man of strong faith, which guided him throughout his life and provided comfort to those around him.



Dennis' passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues. His memory will forever be cherished by those who loved him, and his legacy will live on through the lessons he taught and the love he shared. Dennis will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Dennis, knowing that your life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and selflessness. Your memory will live on in the hearts of those you touched, and your spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00AM at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 1046 West Street, Laurel, DE 19956. Services will be officiated by Pastor Wayne Mathis. In remembrance of Dennis' life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Temperanceville Church of Christ, P.O. Box 332, Temperanceville, Virginia 23442.
