Candler Dooley Hitch was born in Athens, TN to Wallace Dooley and Mildred Candler Hitch. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Union Theological Seminary in Virginia.
Dooley was honorably retired in 1989 from Grace Presbytery, UPCUSA in Northeast Texas where he served for 11 years as associate general presbyter for pastoral care of church professionals. Mr. Hitch served parishes in W.Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Texas. He was a certified minister of Christian education in the UPCUSA. Mr. Hitch was married to Elizabeth Wilson Hitch who passed away in 1985. Dooley and Elizabeth had two sons Christopher Dooley and Richard Wilson.
His cremains were interred at Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
