WW I registration lists him as medium height and build and a negro, born in Mt. Vernon, MD. He has a wife and two children. World War II Draft Registration lists him as age 51, 6' tall, 182 lbs with a ruddy complexion. Though listed here as "white", it is believed that there is little doubt that this was Columbus J. Hitch, son of Dennis Hitch, African American. The record is from Apr 1942. Columbus married Mazie (?) about 1912 in MD. (Mazie (?) was born in 1899 in MD 8 and died in 1923-1930 in MD 9.)
