Samuel Lockwood had 64a tract "Lockwoods Delight" surveyed and patented to him on Oct 23 1754, land in Worcester Co., MD (modern Sussex Co., DE near Dagsboro) (Worcester Certificate 1557). He sold that land to John Dagworthy on Aug 1772 (WoLR-I:116). On Oct 17 1766, Samuel Lockwood purchased land in "Chance" from Joshua/Margaret Knight (WoLR-F:548). On Mar 17 1772, Samuel Lockwood purchased 100a land called "Lockwoods Adventure" from Jesse Newport (WoLR-I:61) (Newport had purchased same from John/Sarah Lockwood on Oct 27 1762 (WoLR-E:378). On Feb 16 1775, Samuel Lockwood purchased 50 land called "Buck Ridge" from William/Ann Baker (WoLR-I:556).

Samuel Lockwood wrote his will on Jan 21 1802 and it was proven in Sussex Co., DE on Oct 12 1807:
- to son Armwell Lockwood, 100a of land called "Chance" bought of Joshua Knight and a tract surveyed in 1776 called "Partnership" adjoining said "Chance" and containing about 50a
- to sons Benjamin, William, Samuel Lockwood 190a of land and my saw mill in a partnership bought of George Mitchell Esq. with Armwell Long tobe divided equally
- to sons William & Samuel, land where I live "Lockwoods Adventure" (100a), "Buck Ridge" (50a), land in partnership with brother Benjamin Lockwood (80a) and part of "Dagworthys Conquest" (30a) and 50a of land where the caution money has never been paid. Divide equally with William having the western part and Samuel the eastern (including the house I now live)
- son William, negro boy Peter and the share I hold in the Dagsborough Library, bed/furniture, cow/calf, iron pot
- to son Samuel and daughter Zipporah Lockwood, each a bed/furniture, cow/calf, iron pot
- remainder of personal estate to be divided among my six daughters
- wife Mary to have use of all property as long as she lives except the land to Armwell Lockwood
- wife Mary and son William to be joint executors
