Uncertain that this child is same as Priscilla Traverse but the probability seems likely. Nehemiah names a child Cissiah in his will. This may be a nickname for Priscilla and hence I place Priscilla Traverse here. Also, on Jun 23 1812, Priscilla Traverse, Jesse Hughes and Levin Hitch are bound for Priscilla Traverse as administratrix with a copy of the will annexed by Matthew Traverse, deceased ( SoBB-EB28-183). On Aug 9 1814, the court mentions for orphans Arietta, John. Matthew, Caroline, Edward and Alec Traverse that Priscilla Traverse, their mother, was appointed guardian. Sureties were provided by Jesse Hughes and Levin Hitch (SoOCP-1811/23:45). That same day, Priscilla Traverse, Jesse Hughes and Levin Hitch were bound for Priscilla Traverse as guardian to Alec, Edward, Arietta, John, Caroline and Matthew Traverse (SoBB-EB28:266,267). Levin Hitch was nephew to Cissiah (Priscilla?) Hitch and the fact that he provides surety for the orphans makes the case stronger that this is indeed Priscilla (Hitch) Traverse). More research needed.
Mary, Cissiah, George, Betty and Sarah Hitch are all listed in their father's will written in 1774. Also, they received reserved distributions from their mother's account out of their father's inventory when the administration of her account was completed in 1782. This indicates that they were probably still minors (< age 21) at that time; hence they were born after 1761 so that they were under 21 in 1782 but before 1774 when their father's will was written.
Priscilla married Matthew Traverse on 28 Jan 1796 in Somerset Co., MD.1 (Matthew Traverse was born in 1772-1773 in MD,2 died on 03 Apr 1812 in Somerset Co., MD 2 and was buried about 06 Apr 1812 in Turner Cemetery, Nanticoke, Wicomico Co., MD.)
