He made a large will in Worcester Co. on Mar 14 1843 and it was proven on Jun 11 1844 (WoW-LPS:252) George was noted as under age in 1794. Dr. George W. Purnell is shown as head of household in 1800 with 1M16-26, 1M26-45, 1F16-26. George Washington Purnell purchased by the combined tracts and partial tracts of Laurence's Neck, Deal, Marshall's Addition, Sea Brant, Shirley's Venture and Hudson's Ruin from his wife's cousin, John Purnell Marshall on May 13 1817. (WoLR-GWM5:363-5) In 1844, Elisha L. Purnell and James R. S. Purnell, trustees of George Washington Purnell sold to Stephen B. Collins. After several other owners, the land was purchased in 1921 by Frank S. & Hattie Langmaid. This deed describes the property as "those tracts, parts of tracts or parcels of land lying and being situated in Newark Election District in the County of Worcester...called Shirley, St. Lawrence's Neck, Deal, Marshall Addition, Sea Brant, Shirley's Venture and Hudson Ruin.
