In 1664, he patented Whitelaw tract A99, (now, south of Parksley, west of R.R. track, Accomack Co, Virginia) - It contained 400 acres and was called the Forke Neck, and was between the main north and south forks of Hunting Creek, above were the latter forked to make Drake's neck. In 1687 Finla Mackwilliam (wife Mary) left to his sons Finla & Overton, but if either died without heir, that part was to go to a daughter Sarah.

He wrote his will one 25 Mar 1687 and it was proven 10 Oct 1687 in Accomack County, VA
In his will Finla Mackwilliam gave to sons Fenla & Overton (under age 19) plantation where I now live being 400 acres. To daughter Sarah. To daughter Patience. Sons to be at age at 19. Wife Mary Exec. Daus. Sarah & Patience to remain with their mother till their marriage. To daughter Margaret Litchfield. To daughter Elizabeth Willett. To daughter Ann Scott. To George Middleton 12 pence as a portion for his deceased wife. Wife to have plantation, during her widowhood. Should my wife marry personal estate to be divided between my said wife & four children Finla, Overton, Patience & Sarah. Col. John West, Capt. Richard Hill & John Drummond to be overseers of my will. Witt: John Ayres, Thomas Rila, John Cary.
