Ella Mae Tubbs

Delmar\emdash Ella Mae Tubbs, 85, of Delmar, died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was born in Ocean View, a daughter of the late Fred and Flora (Kissinger) Hudson. In her early years, Mrs. Tubbs worked as a waitress at Orrell's Restaurant and as a seamstress at Rombro Brothers Shirt Factory in Delmar. She enjoyed working in her garden and sharing her vegetables with family and friends. Ella Mae loved to host family dinners and was known for her wonderful pies and pepper relish. She also enjoyed crocheting keepsakes for her family. She was a long time member of St. Georges United Methodist Church in Laurel. She is survived by six children, Jack Bailey of Delmar, Carol Schaefer (Craig) of Millsboro, Fred Henry of Virginia, Brenda Hastings of Laurel, David Bailey (Deb) of Laurel, and Sue Ellen Jacobs (Clint) of Indiana; two brothers, Irving Hudson of Ocean View and Ebe Hudson of Chincoteague, a sister, Sally Gray of Laurel; 16 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and six step-children, Howard, Mary, Maugie, Vincent Tubbs, Bobby Harding of Seaford, and Barry Harding of Baltimore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent H. Tubbs; two sons, Howard I. "Joe Ben" Bailey and Robert Freeman Bailey-Merider; a brother, Bud Hudson; and a sister, Gladys Williams. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The Reverend Dr. Everett C. Isaacs will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
