Paul M. Powell, age 91, of Seaford, DE and formerly of Laurel, DE passed away at the Methodist Manor House in Seaford on May 21, 2009.
He was born in Laurel a son of the late Charles R. and Grace Marie Powell. Paul retired from the E. I. DuPont Company formerly in Seaford. He was also a farmer owing and operating Powell Farms in Bacon Switch. Mr. Powell was a lifelong active church member of St. George's United Methodist Church in Delmar. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially quartets and concerts and hunting rabbits.
Mr. Powell is survived by his wife, June Powell of Seaford; his daughters: Anne Nyce and husband Henry of Laurel and Nancy Pfister and husband Joe of Newark, DE; his sons: Donald Powell, DMV and wife Rita of Oakhill, VA. and John Powell and wife Barbara of Laurel; a brother, Robert C. Powell of Quantico, VA; 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren also survive him. His first wife Doris Handy Powell who passed in 1993 preceded him in death.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. George's United Methodist Church on St. George's Rd. in Delmar, DE 19940 on Sunday May 24 at 3 pm. Where a viewing will also be held from 2-3 pm. The Rev. Dale Evans will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
Paul married Doris Susanna HANBY, daughter of Rev. Jacob Carroll HANBY and Bessie B. McALLISTER. (Doris Susanna HANBY was born on 04 Apr 1916 in New Castle Co., DE, died on 23 Nov 1993 in Sussex Co., DE and was buried about 26 Nov 1993 in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel, Sussex Co., DE.)
