He was born in Indiantown, near Snow Hill, a son of the late George W. and Mary Virgina Shockley Clayville. He graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1955, then began his lifelong devotion to farming. He was a member of the Snow Hill Lions Club for 57 years. He enjoyed playing softball for local teams, training harness horses and the Orioles baseball team. He is survived by wife Judy Niblet Clayville, daughter Andrea Clayville Erving, and son, Brooks Lee Clayville.

George married Judith Faye (Judy) Niblett, daughter of Milton James Niblett and Bessie Alice JARMAN, on 28 Sep 1963 in Worcester Co., MD. (Judith Faye (Judy) Niblett was born in 1945.)
