The name Woodhave is a bit of a mystery. It is spelled variously in the old records to include Wouldhave and Wildhane.

On May 3 1680 William Woodhave (as Wouldhave) had the tract SILVER STREET surveyed for 100a and received a patent on Aug 30 1680. In modern day, this is located near Newark, MD along US 113 just east of Quepongo and towards the Bay. All of his lands were located in this general vicinity.

On Aug 20 1680, Edward Smith, planter, et ux. Anne Smith sold the 600a tract TEWKSBURY to William Wouldhave, planter. (SoLR-MA:348) then, on Jul 18 1693, 100a of it was sold by William Wouldhave et ux. Anne Wouldhave to Walter Evans, tailor (SoLR-L1:110).

On Apr 21 1687 William Woodhave (as Wouldhave) had the tract CUMBERLAND surveyed for 320a and received a patent on Jun 12 1688. On Sep 21 1687, William Woodhave (as Wouldhave) had the tract MEDLEY surveyed for 100a and received a patent on Jun 12 1688.

On Dec 16 1687 William Woodhave (as Wouldhave) had the tract NEWBERRY surveyed for 230a and received a patent on May 2 1689. In modern day, this is located the SILVER STREET tract to the east and on the east side of US 113.

On Jan 26 1703/04, in Somerset Co, Maryland,William Wildhane (Woodhave) wrote his will and gave to Enock Griffin, Jane his wife and their heirs, 100 acres where said Griffin lives, adjoining Walter Ennis' land. To son Joseph, Benjamin and William jointly and their heirs, 200 acres, residue of said tract, 200 acres, of "Newberry," and all personalty. Extrs: Walter Ennis(sic) (Walter Evans at settlement on 12 Mar 1707) and Geo. Day. Witt: Jno. Edgar & Walter Sims. It was proved on Mar 15 1703/04. (MdW-003:260)

The estate was settled on Mar 12 1707. The admin. account of William Wooldhave was valued at £78.6.10. Payments to: Mr. Dent, Elizabeth Jackson, _____ Coleman, _____ Worthington, Enoch Griffin, John Cavinger, administrators of _____ Wilson, Col. Jenckins, Robert Forde, Robert Hodge, Blanch Jones, Mr. Edgar, Capt. John Franklyn & Peter Dent. Extrs: Walter Evans & George Day.
