Daniel Todd Malone, Sr., 73, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Dan passed away at the Salisbury Nursing Rehabilitation Center. Dan was born in Salisbury and was the youngest of three siblings. He was the son of the late Avery Mack Malone and Helen Catherine White Malone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by older brother, Charles Michael Malone and sister, Rebecca Malone McGrath. He is survived by a very special uncle, Russell Malone, 96 years old. Dan also has many nieces, nephews and cousins. One really special person was his granddaughter, Brittany Elizabeth Malone, who's love for her was always in his heart. Dan had two sisters-in-law, Terri Cornelius who he loved to talk with and learned to love her dog, "Cricket Man" and Connie Morris who he loved to tease all the time. Dan's wife of 53 years is Joan Elizabeth Brittingham Malone who was truly the love of his life, and Dan was the love of Joan's life. They have two sons, Daniel Ray Malone (wife Helen Malone) of Berlin and youngest son Kevin Bryan Malone of Salisbury. No matter what we all went through, the love of a father and his sons made it through it all. There was a great bond of forgiveness. Dan was at the Salisbury Nursing Rehabilitation for about a year. He was 73 years old and doing well when he passed very suddenly. A call came at about 11:40 pm on Wednesday. Dan was a tough man he fought many health battles; he never gave up on anything in life. I believe his toughness started when he was little. His mom and dad were farmers, they knew hard work, and they taught their 3 children to work hard. His mom once said there would have been no farm if it hadn't been for the help of our children, Becky, Mike and Danny. A wonderful generation of Malone's have left this world. My sons and I just want everyone to know Dan was just not a man who struggled at times with major health problems, he was a man that graduated from high school, played football and wrestled alongside his brother, Mike in the late '60's at Wicomico Senior High School, was a Future Farmer of America, FFA man as well as his brother, Mike. They both were asked to go try out for the Baltimore Colts football team. But, they both decided to stay on the farm. It was just in their blood. Then in 1966 Dan meant Joan and fell crazy in love and after a couple of years, they married and had two sons. Dan worked on the farm when Mike went to college. During his lifetime he had several jobs. He worked at Pep Boys, the Old Delmarva Aluminum, siding man. A Sinclair Oil man, Crown Cork and Seal worker for 13 years, Coca-Cola Company, but he loved American Paving where he was a heavy equipment operator. Our youngest son, Kevin said Pop taught me so much, we shared the passion for big equipment. Dan and I visited Kevin in Virginia where Kevin was logging and he put on a show for us that day. Dan turned to me and said "That's my boy, Joanie", he was so proud of Kevin that day. Kevin said mom, "Pop's always been my hero, to me he's the 8th wonder of the world." Our oldest son loved working with the chain saw with his pop. They all would clear lots and do septic systems for years. They all had their times, but those 3 fellas could get some work done. Danny Ray our son said if you don't watch Pop he'd knock your head off with the back-hoe. I called them my 3 musketeers. Dan loved Salisbury Baptist Temple and our beautiful, loving family there. His hero was Pastor Perdue who he was saved and baptized under. His present Pastor Carlo Leto was very dear to Danny. He said many times he's a good faithful caring man, Joanie. Dan drove the red and white church bus for years and worked along side his wife, Joan teaching Sunday School. We had 14 wonderful years with these children and believe me there was never a dull moment. We loved every moment of it. Now as for me his wife, Joanie, that's what he liked to call me. We have been through it all. But you know through all the trials and tribulations the good outweighs the bad. It really wasn't us getting through all these rough times, it was having faith in the Lord. He kept us strong when we were weak, He helped us when our faith wavered. We survived it all by the grace of God. It helps heal my sorrow, to know God felt it was time to take Dan home. Heaven opened her gates to Dan that night and his legs are back, his hands no longer in pain, and he sees the face of Jesus! And my heart aches for our loss on this earth, I miss you so much! Love Joanie and sons. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11 am at Salisbury Baptist Temple with Pastors Carlo Leto and Oren Perdue officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, PA, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. Please visit www.hollowayfh.com to express condolences to the family.
