Francis Boardman
(Abt 1685-1730/1732) |
Francis Boardman
Sarah Jackson said he was an "English man" and that his father was Samuel Boardman and both were weavers. Christopher Dowdle deposed that he had taken a trip to England to visit his relations and friends about "forty years ago" when the interview was given in 1768 (see deposition in SoLR-D:229). So the trip happened in c1728 and he stayed for 12 months before returning to Somerset. He is not listed with his family in the 1727 Tax List so maybe that is the year he went to England. His wife Sarah shows as a widow in the 1733 Tax List. Francis married Sarah Jarrett, daughter of Graves Jarrett and Mary Gillis. (Sarah Jarrett was born about 1690 in Somerset Co., MD and died in Somerset Co., MD.) |
