Thomas H. Johnson died at his home in Girdletree following several weeks of heart trouble. Mr. Johnson had double pneumonia last Winter, and though he recovered it left him with a very weak heart, and for weeks he was a great sufferer. He was 83 years of age and was a member of the M. P. Church at Girdletree for more than 50 years. He is survived by the following children, Charles W. Johnson of Swissvale, Pa.; William T. Johnson, of Laurel; Clarence H. Johnson, of Greenbackville; J. H. Johnson of Newark; Rufus Johnson, of Girdletree; Mrs. C. E. Petitt, of Stockton; and Mrs. J. B. Petitt of Snow Hill. Funeral services were held at the M. P. Church at Girdletree, conducted by the Rev. E. L. Bunce of Pocomoke City. The pallbearers were: H. B. Dukes, E. R. Dukes, John Jones, Richard Young William Mumford and Washington Webb. The honorary pallbearers were: Harry Connoway, Burton Connoway, Samuel Johnson, Clayton Johnson, Walter Johnson, and Clayton Connoway.

Thomas married Emily Jane Conaway, daughter of James Thomas Conaway and Sarah A. Ward. (Emily Jane Conaway was born on 04 Nov 1856 in MD, died on 03 Feb 1940 in Worcester Co., MD and was buried about 06 Feb 1940 in Methodist Protestant Church, Girdletree, Worcester Co., MD.)
