David James
In 1683, David James bought 37 1/2 acres of tract N99 in Northampton (See Whitelaw, 1968) from Nicholas and Anne Granger and from John and Margaret Granger. Then in 1692 he bought another 37 1/2 acres each from Mary and Elizabeth Dolby. The 4 women were the daughters and cohiers of Edward Dolby and the 150 acres they sold were the balance owned by him at his death. When David James died in 1703 he left the home part to his wife Joan and then to his son William, 100 acres where Dolby had formerly lived to his son David, and the 50-acres balance to his son Robert. David married Joan (?). (Joan (?) was born about 1650 and died before 17 Feb 1713 in Northampton Co., VA.) |
