John Michael
(1646-Bef 1684) |
John Michael
He was shown as Jno. Michaell, Jr., aged 28 years: On 7 November 1673, near Michaell's plantation, he was with his father-in-law, Lt. Col. Jno. Tilney; where a path joined the road, they met "by accident" Jno. Pope, who was riding Tilney's horse called Bayard. Tilney was much offended and asked Pope "how he dared ride (Tilney's) horse about in that manner." Pope said he would not harm him and would do as great a kindness for Tilney, who was still angry. Pope said he was sorry he had committed a fault and asked for pardon. A short time earlier Pope had lent the horse to a friend; when the horse started limping, it was brought to Michaell's place. Pope, who joined Michaell at breakfast, requested that the horse not be ridden. Michaell promised to take him to the farriers, and Pope gave his opinion about the leg that was lame. Signed 8 January 1673/74, Jno. Michaell, Jr., who further declared: After returning from England, Tilney gave Michaell permission to use the horse while he was running at Michaell's house. Signed 8 January 1673/74, Jno. Michael, Jr. John married Ann Tilney, daughter of Capt. John Tilney and Anne Smith. (Ann Tilney was born on 03 Feb 1650 in Accomack Co., VA and died before 06 Jul 1736 in Accomack Co., VA.) |
