Memorial for Benjamin Paradee, published in the Democratic Messenger (Snow Hill, MD) of 2/16/1918.
IN MEMORIAM In sad and loving memory of our dear father and husband, Benjamin P. Paradee, who departed this life one year ago today, February 16, 1917: Lonely are we without thee, Father, Our thoughts are all of thee; How we love and how we miss you, None but God in Heaven can see.
We often sit and think of you When we are all alone, For memory is the only friend That grief can call its own.
Home is said, O God, how dreary, Lonesome, lonesome, every spot Listening for the voice of father, Silent, for we hear him not.
One year has passed, our hearts' still sore, As time goes on we'll miss you more Your loving smiles, your welcome face, No one can fill your vacant place.
The loss was bitter, the sting severe, To part with one we loved so dear: The trial was hard, we'll not complain, But trust in God to meet again.
Sadly missed by mother and children.
Benjamin married Mary Ellen Washington Jones, daughter of Isaac R. Jones and Eliza Washington Bonnewell. (Mary Ellen Washington Jones was born on 08 Apr 1845 in Worcester Co., MD, died on 29 Jan 1922 in Worcester Co., MD and was buried about 01 Feb 1922 in Goodwill Cemetery, Worcester Co., MD.)
