According to a description on an 1877 Dames Quarter map, John Bozman was a dealer in dry goods, groceries, hats, caps, boots, shoes, hardware, queensware, tinware, notions, etc. His store was on Pigeon Creek. In those days, the closest Post Office was Monie, Somerset County, Maryland.
As water levels along Pigeon Creek slowly rose over the years, the marsh took over more land and people moved their dwellings to higher ground. No houses remain along Pigeon Creek where John Bozman once lived. It is marsh and now part of the Deal Island Wildlife Management Area.
John and Nancy were the Parents of Edward Bozman, Nellie Jones, Emeline Willing, Mary Carver, Michael Bozman, John B. Bozman, Isaac J. Bozman, Henry Bozman, Hester Bozman and Prescilla Crockett.
