Levin F. Evans
HEBRON-Levin F. Evans, 92, of Hebron died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Wicomico Nursing Home. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Stephen Filmore Evans and Ethel Melson Evans. Levin graduated from Hebron High School in 1938 and was a lifelong farmer and a Wicomico County school bus contractor for over 25 years. He was a member of Rockawalkin United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Rockawalkin Ruritan Club with perfect attendance for 47 years. He was a member of the Wicomico County Farm Bureau and collected antique toy tractors. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family and never met a stranger. He is survived by four children, Brenda Hales, Philip Evans and his wife, Cynthia, Brian Evans and his wife, Cindy, and Melodie Carter; grandchildren, Kimberly Harrison, Karen Houtman, William Hales, Mark Evans, Ginny Evans, Lee Evans, Ryan Carter and Evan Carter; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Nicholson Evans, in 1997 and two brothers, Elwood F. Evans and Preston G. Evans. A funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 5, at noon at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury, where friends may call from 10 a.m.-noon. Pastor Frick will officiate. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens. Levin married Elizabeth (Betty) Mae Nicholson, daughter of Levin J. Nicholson and Nellie I. Marshall.
