Donald Ray Cooper, Sr., 84, of Princess Anne, lost his hard fought battle with cancer on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Coastal Hospice At The Lake in Salisbury surrounded by loving family. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Franklin John Cooper and Louise Hanna Dennis Cooper Hancock. Donald was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1952-1956. He was stationed aboard the Aircraft Carrier, USS Siboney-112. He was a member of the American Legion Post 94 for 31 years, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, and the Cardiac Rehab at PRMC. He worked for the US Postal Service for over 38 years, retiring in 1990 as a Postmaster in Princess Anne. Over the years, he worked several jobs to support his family, including delivering newspapers and flowers, and electrical work. He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, Navy Midshipmen, and Maryland Terrapins. He liked spending time on the beach at the Outer Banks, fishing with family and friends. He was a gifted wood worker and a man of many other talents. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda Disharoon Cooper; 5 children, Donald R Cooper, Jr. (Debra) of Fruitland, Debra A. Lokey of Salisbury, Donna Marie Cooper (Matt) of Delmar, Stephen J. Recker of Fruitland, and Teena R. Quintavalle (Andy) of Salisbury; 4 granddaughters, Angela Lynn Lokey, Laura Leigh Cooper, Alyssa J. Quintavalle, and Ava E. Anderson; a grandson, Anthony J. Quintavalle; a brother, Robert Cooper (Ruth) of Salisbury; a brother-in-law, Jesse Disharoon; sisters-in-law, Janet Roush (Ron), Kathy Disharoon and Hellen Disharoon; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Jason L. Recker; a brother, Douglas Cooper (Anna Mae); brothers-in-law, Henry Disharoon, Jr. and William Disharoon; his mother and father in law, Henry, Sr. and Margie Disharoon. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron with Rev. William Kniceley officiating.

Donald married Linda Ruth Disharoon, daughter of Henry Clyde (Teenie) Disharoon and Margie Ruth McKinney. (Linda Ruth Disharoon was born about 1948 in Wicomico Co., MD.)
