In the Somerset Court records of 1730-33 March Court 1733 (NS) Commission and Affidavits (Folio 292), Thomas Brereton petetioned for the boundaries of HOPEWELL and HIGH MEADOW, we have the depositions of Richard Chambers (age 44), Michael Raglin [Ragly] (25), Olive Chambers (46), Patrick Daly (41), Thomas Poole (45), Charles Hayman (20), Joseph Stanford (39), William Hayman (66), Henry Dorman (60), Thomas Pollitt (40) (who names Mary Brererton the daughter of Richard Chambers), James Hayman (29).

Richard Chambers wrote his will Nov 29 1743 and it was probated in Somerset on Dec 12 1743
-To cousin Richard Brereton: my old plantation, where I now dwell.
-To cousin Samuel Collins: orchard for 20 years and 10 years worth of pasturage for his creatures. Chest, and all the crop of corn and tobacco and cider and livestock. Gun called Hone.
-Remainder of moveable estate, divided with Richard Brereton. Two parcels on the north side of the main branch now called MANLOVES VENTURE and VULCANS FORGE. Also the upper portion of VULCANS FORGE
-To cousin William Douglas livestock; my desk and his aunt=s chest. Land, 100 ac ROWLEYS RIDGE
