Richard Tull had the tract COLEMANS ADVENTURE surveyed for him in Somerset Co. on Jan 25 1677 (new style) for 500a. On Jan 10 1705, he sold 200a of it to his edlest son, George Tull - Richard is named as an "innholder" in that record (SoLR-L1:590). The other 300a devised to his son Richard in 1711 (see below).
Richard Tull Senr his marke vizt Cropt in the left ear & a hart in the Crope Cropt on the right ear & one slitt in the Crop recorded 27th March 1682.
In the Somerset court records for Aug 16 1694, we find the following "Petition of Richard Tull and George Noble for license to operate an ordinary at Dividing Creek "hoping thereby to become servicable to the County" (probably at the new Courthouse at the time); Court grants license to Tull only; memorandum: Jenckins left bench during trial, Dashiels sat as president."
His will was written Oct 6 1710 and was proven in Somerset Co. on Jun 5 1711 with the following provisions: -To wife Margrett, executrix -To sons George, John 12 pence each -To son Benjamin, a mare or two cows whichever he chooses -To daughter Rachel Powell, 12 pence -To daughter Elisabeth Latchum, a cow and the bed in her possession -To daughter Mary Clark, bed bolster and a rug and blanket and a cow with her increases -To daughter Sarah Tull, two cows and their increase, a bed, pot and chest, bolster and blankets -To son Richard, ye plantation where I formerly lived on commonly called "Colemans Adventure" being 300a on Dividing Creek. Also all my other lands. If any debts, all my heirs bear equally Witnesses: Thomas Tull, William Tull, Mary Boyer, John Benson (SoW-EB9:42)
Richard married Martha Rhoades, daughter of Dr. John Rhoades and Katherine (?), on 06 Mar 1672 in Somerset Co., MD. (Martha Rhoades was born on 06 Mar 1654 and died in 1709 in Somerset Co., MD.)
Richard next married Margaret Polk about 1709 in Somerset Co., MD. (Margaret Polk was born about 1680.)
