bullet  Notes:

Michael Drury wrote his will Feb 14 1825 and it was sent for probate on Feb 13 1828 in St. Mary's Co., MD. In it are the following provisions:
- To daughter Dorothy Joy, wife of Ignatius Joy Jr., my dwelling plantation of two tracts "Drurys Delight" of 92 1/2 acres and 8 square perches.and part of "Hard Times" a deed from George Fenwick 7 1/4 acres.
- To daughter Catherine Drury, tract called "Wales" I bought of William Fenwick of 114 acres. Deed recorded Liber IH4:30-31 on Sep 11 1813 in St. Mary's Co.
- Rest of my estate divided equally between daughters Dorothy and Catherine.
- Appoint friend Enoch J. Millard as executor.
Witnesses: Zach. Raley, James Yates, O.B. Brooke. (StMW-EJM1:36)

The heirs of the other children of Michael Drury were evidently NOT happy with his estate going all to his daughters Dorothy and Catherine, they being the only surviving children at the time. On Jun 3 1828, there was a caveat presented in St. Mary's Co., MD to the will of Michael Drury against its admission to probate. Marthaney Drury, now the wife of John Johnson of Leonard; Thomas Drury, Dorothy Julian and Elizabeth Drury, heirs and children of Edward Drury; Rose Ann Emeline Drury, Edward Drury and Eleanor (by Joseph Johnson their next friend) children of Michael Drury; William Johnson, John Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Ann Johnson and Michael (by Joseph Johnson their next friend), children of Mary Ann Johnson formerly Mary Ann Drury. On Jul 15 1829, John Johnson and wife Mary Ann asked that they and their children be exempted from listing on the caveat as they were entered there without their consent. The caveat claimed that Michael Drury was not of a sound mind for 2 or 3 years before his death and could not have made a will. Many depositions on this and interesting to read - at one point it states that Drury was age 70 or 80 when he wrote his will in 1825. The will was ruled to be good on Nov 10 1829. (StMW-EJM1:99)
