George was named as an heir on 14 August 1662 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as George Hope and given one heifer in the will of William Jordan, wife Dorothy. He chose a guardian on on 18 April 1672 at Accomack Co, VA. George Hope petitioned the court to be free from his father-in-law, Roger Mackeell, and selected Robert Watson, schoolmaster, to be his guardian. Ordered that Mackeell deliver Hope's estate to Watson, who was to care for it on behalf of Hope till he attained "full age." (NOTE: The assumption is that George Hope had chosen his Uncle Robert Watson to be his guardian, since his mother Mary would have been too old to have been this Robert Watson's daughter.)
He was named in a court order on 7 February 1672/73 at Accomack Co, VA. George Hope acknowledged that he had received his estate from Robert Watson, sr., who had been appointed his guardian, and also from Roger Mikeell, his step-father. Ordered that Watson be discharged from Hope's estate. (NOTE: The assumption is that George Hope had chosen his Uncle Robert Watson to be his guardian, since his mother Mary would have been too old to have been this Robert Watson's daughter.)
He gave a deposition in September 1674 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as George Hope, age 22. He was on the list of tithables at Accomack Co, VA, in 1675. He was shown as George Hope with 1 tith on Mr. Jno. Wise's List. (NOTE: This is the first time he was on the tax list.)
He married Temperance Waddelowe, daughter of Nicholas Waddelowe (Quaker) and Amey (-----), circa 1679.
George was named as an heir on 23 July 1698 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as George Hope, husband of Temperance Hope, who were the parents of nephew William Hope, in the will of William Anderson.
He married Elizabeth Jones, daughter of Richard Jones Jr. and (-----) (-----), in October 1709. On 1 Nov 1709 Capt. George Hope, who had married Elizabeth Abbot, petitioned for division of the estate of John Abbot.
He made a will on 20 January 1722 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Thomas 700 acres where I now live & 100 acres of swamp. To son & daughter Mark & Comfort Ewell 30 acres where I now dwell. Grandson George Hope Ewell. Grandaughter Johannah Custis Hope (under 18) daughter of William Hope, deceased Son George Hope deceased To Mary & Patience Savage, daughters of Griffeth Savage. To servant Elizabeth Dutton 100 acres where my son Thomas now lives for life, reversion to her daughter Margaret, also her freedom as soon as I am dead. To daughter Temperance Scarburgh all the money I have in England. Son Thomas Hope & friend Richard Kitson Exrs. Son Thomas & 3 daughters Comfort. Temperance & Patience residual legatees. Witt: William Nock, Jr., John Tankred, Elizabeth Abbott. George died before 7 August 1722. It was on this date that his will was probated.
He was named in a land cause on 27 November 1732 at Accomack Co, VA. John Jackson vs Thomas Parramore & Joanna Custis, his wife. That the said John and the aforesaid Thomas and Joanna, in right of the said Joanna, together and undivided hold two orchards, 1 garden, four dwelling houses, two kitchens, one barn, 1013 acres of land and 200 acres of Marsh, upon Matompkin Creek, in the Parish of Accomack, late the inheritance of William Custis, dec., whereon unto him the said John and to his heirs it belongs to have one orchard, one dwelling house, 200 acres of land and Marsh, and to the said Thomas & Joanna, in right of the said Joanna, the residue of the premises according to the last will and testament of the said William Custis, the said 200 acres being devised by the said William Custis, dec., to his wife, Bridget, and conveyed to the aforesaid John by William Arbuckle and the said Bridget, then his wife.
