On 8 Jul 1724 in Accomack County Court, Thomas Slocomb (administrator of the estate of his father, Robt. Slocomb, deceased) petitioned that during his lifetime his father left different goods and chattels in the hands of Tho. Lucas, Nathaniel Howard, George Middleton and Sarah Riley (widow and executrix of Tho. Riley), all of whom now refused to deliver the items to Slocomb. Ordered that the sherriff summon the above persons to the next court to show why they did not deliver the goods in question.
Sarah was named in a power of attorney on 5 January 1724/25 at Accomack Co, VA. Bayly Hinman presented a power of attorney made to him by Ailce (sic) Coe; it was proved by the oaths of Sarah Ryly and John Ryly. She was named in a court order on 4 January 1725/26 at Accomack Co, VA. At the court held March 1724/25, Sarah Ryly petitioned for the part of her estate that remained in the hands of Jonathan Baker, who married Mary, the widow and administrator of Benjamin Coe, who had been administrator of Sarah Coe, deceased. The estate included one cow, two steers, one sheep and six hogs. Now the Bakers failed to appear. Mary(sic) (Sarah) produced her account and swore that the animals were the balance of what was due her from the estate of her deceased mother. The court ordered that the Bakers pay Sarah the animals out of the estate of Sarah Coe, deceased, with costs and fees.
