Tobias Selve took the oath of allegiance to hereby engage and promise to be true and faithful to the Commonwealth of England as it is now established without King or House of Lords on 30 March 1651 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Tobius Selve.
Tobias witnessed a will on 2 October 1656 at Northampton Co, VA. Richard Hamby and Tobius Sellve witnessed the will of Robert Andrews, Gent.
He patented land in 1666 at tract A24, south of Pungoteague, Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Tobias Selvey and patented 600 acres. He deeded land as a gift in 1675 at tract A24, south of Pungoteague, Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Tobias Sellvey, Chirurgion, gave 150 acres to his daughter Elizabeth and her husband William Fletcher, and in 1682 he bequeathed 50 acres each to his daughters Elizabeth, Matilda and Clemencye. As he made no othe disposition of land it seems probable that he had also given 150 acres each to Matilda and Clemencye, althought such deeds are not recorded, as that would have given each of the daughters a third of his patent land.
Tobias made a will on 14 February 1681/82 at Accomack Co, VA. In his will Tobias Selvey gave to daughter Matillda Harrison. To Joseph Harrison (under age) Daus. Climencye, Elizabeth & Matillda 50 acres O. To William Allford, if he stays with me until I die & serves his time justly, 1000 £ of tobacco - Three daughters residual legatees & Executrices. Witt: John Smalley, William Alford.
Tobias married Elizabeth Chilcott about 1650 in Accomack Co., VA. (Elizabeth Chilcott was born about 1630.)
