This compiler's 8x great grandfather John Parramore (1607-1676) came to Virginia on the ship "Bonaventure" in 1622 and lived first in Northampton Co, "Eastern Shore", Virginia but eventually settled in 1666 around Girdletree, Worcester Co., MD (then Somerset Co.) . He called his ~1500a plantation "Weetuxtion" (the patent is "Double Purchase") and it was described as between Parramores Creek at Weetuxen [sic] on the northeast and Hearns Creek on the south, bounding eastward by salt water and sunken marshes of the seaboard side. In the image you can see on a modern map where it includes the entire eastern half of modern Girdletree, MD and extends SE-ward to the Chincoteague Bay and includes Taylors Landing.

John was listed in the "Muster of February 1624/25"..."at Eastern Shore, Virginia." He was shown as John Parramore, age 17, who came on the Ship Bona Venture in 1622, shown as a servant in the Muster of John Blore.

His first appearance in the court records of Northampton County, (the Accomacke) was on Feb 19 1634/5 when he was ordered to pay 100 pounds of tobacco to John Graves. On Mar 27 1637 a the court ordered him to repay David Windley 7 bushels of corn for 4 months and odd days victuals for his wifes diet and to repay to Henry Williams a half barrel of corn lent to mayntyne himself and his wife 2 monthes. His wife Jane Parramore who was cited Jun 5 1640 for failure to appear in court to answer a complaint of John Deereman for abusive language.

On Aug 30 1642 he was referred to as "cowkeeper at the Penn comanly called my Lady Dale's Penn." The estate of Dame Elizabeth Dale, on Oct 30 1643, was ordered to pay him "120 pounds of tobacco, 2 1/2 barrels of corn, 3 barrels of Indian corn, a clothe shute and a coate of 30 shillings price in England, 2 pair of shoes, 2 pair of stockings and 2 shirts for wages due."

After his marriage in 1644 to Elizabeth Drake, they lived on a 200a plantation at Maggoty Bay which had been patented by her father, but in July 1654 he was directed to surrender the plantation to Richard Hill who had married Elizabeth's sister Mary Drake - this is Whitelaw tract N8. John Parramore gave by deed of gift on Jun 3 1650 at Northampton Co., VA of cattle to Thomas Hunt and wife Joan (his mother-in-law), Richard Hill (husband of his wife's sister Mary Drake) and John Potts for his (Parramore's) children Thomas, John and Elizabeth, their mother being dead.

Also in 1654, John Parramore purchased 250a of land from John Taylor, the western half of Whitelaw tract N117, which he assigned to his son Thomas in 1669. N117 is located in modern day at the very northern edge of Northampton Co., VA on the south bank of Occahannock Creek bounded on the west by Concord Wharf Rod, on the east by Clearview Road and on the south by Occahonnock Neck Road.

He took the oath of allegiance to hereby engage and promise to be true and faithful to the Commonwealth of England as it is now established without King or House of Lords on Mar 25 1651 at Northampton Co, VA. This was during the inter-regnum years of Cromwell's reign in England. John bought 250a of land on Sep 30 1654 on the south side of Occahannock Creek, Accomack Co, VA.

John patented 1500a of land on Nov 9 1666 at Somerset Co., MD (later Worcester Co), when the state line was being set in 1668. He made his will on Feb 6 1675 and it was proven in Somerset Co, MD on Jun 15 1676. His will described him as of "Pocketty Norton," seaman, and is transcribed as follows:
