George Clarke
He died before Mar 28 1688 at Northampton Co., VA as administering of his estate was granted to Elizabeth Clarke, widow of the dec'd, with William Sterlinge, Charles Holden securities. Appraisers: Ralph Pigot, William Waters Jr., Benomi Ward and William Waterson. The first settlement is dated Jun 28 1690 when the petition of Wm. Sterlinge against John Wescott as marrying Elizabeth, the daughter (clerk's error, sic, widow) of George Clarke dec'd, it is the judgment of the Court and accordingly ordered that the said Wescott send an account to the next Court of the said Clarks estate and then find sufficient surety for the payment of what shall appear legally due to the said Clarke's children of the said Father's estate is due, till then the former security for the said Clarke's administration to stand obliged and the said Wescott to give bond with other surety at the next Court accordingly. A second settlement happened Feb 2 1691 on the petition of John Wescott on marrying Elizabeth Clark, the Administrator of George Clarke deceased for valuation of certain parcel of cattle on Hogg Island belonging to the said descendents estate and division of same between the said Wescott (in the quality of aforesaid) and the children of the said Clarke: Argall Wilkins, Thomas Coffin, and Charles Floyd are appointed by the court to value and divide the same accordingly and that the said Wescott render an acc. thereof to the next court and give bond with security to be responsible for the children of the said Clarke their parts according to law and pay court charges. George married Elizabeth (?) about 1685 in Northampton Co., VA. (Elizabeth (?) was born about 1665 in Northampton Co., VA and died before 1728.) |
