This Joseph Hanby connects back to one of the immigrants Hanbys, either Richard (1596-c1643) or Samuel (1609-??), probably the former. However, the record is sparse for the mid-18th century and how this Joseph Hanby line progresses ackwards. More work to be done to try and ascertain. There is a line Richard-Richard-Joseph (c1679-1710) that is most compelling.

He was named as a parent in a marriage record on Dec 27 1802 in Northampton Co., VA. Wm. Parkerson was security on the marriage icense bann of Edmund Bell and Polly Hanby, daughter of Joseph Hanby who gave consent.

He died before Jun 9 1817 in Northampton Co. as, the administration of his estate was granted to John Hanby. Bond $2,000. Appraisers were John H. Joseph next married Bridget Edmunds, daughter of David Edmunds and Hannah Hays, on 19 Jan 1791. (Bridget Edmunds was born about 1761 in Northampton Co., VA and died before 14 Jun 1824 in Northampton Co., VA.)
